The waiting screen never goes away.
Work down these in order — the last one is the cause nobody guesses:
- In Forza,
Data Outis set to On. - The IP in Forza matches the one on the app's waiting screen — not any other address.
- The port is
29001in both places. - Windows Firewall is allowing it. The app asks for the rule itself the first time it runs; Connection / Setup in the ☰ menu shows whether it's in place and can put the prompt back up.
- Nothing else already owns the feed. Forza sends Data Out to one address only — if SimHub or another telemetry app is running, it has it. Connection / Setup names SimHub if it finds it.
The app says TELEMETRY STOPPED.
It was receiving, then the stream stopped. Usually the game was closed or the connection between the devices dropped; if it stays paused once you're driving again, the game device's address may have changed — see "It worked yesterday, then stopped today."
Which of my IP addresses do I use?
Open Connection / Setup from the ☰ menu in the app — it lists this device's addresses, live. More than one usually means a VPN or a virtual network adapter; the one starting
192.168. or 10. that matches your Wi-Fi is yours. The game device and the dashboard device must be on the same network. It worked yesterday, then stopped today.
Almost always your device's IP changed — home routers hand out new ones (DHCP). Either open Connection / Setup in the app — it lists this device's addresses, live — and update Forza, or set a static IP / DHCP reservation for the dashboard device so it never moves again. A game update can also reset Data Out back to Off — worth a quick check.
My phone or tablet can't reach the PC (or Xbox).
Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network — not a "guest" network, and not one your router isolates from the other; turn off AP / client isolation if it has it. Feeding the phone's dashboard? Confirm the phone's IP is what you typed into Forza. Opening the PC's dashboard from the phone? The PC firewall needs inbound
TCP 29101 as well as UDP 29001 — Connection / Setup shows both.Windows says "unknown publisher" when I run it.
Expected — the build isn't code-signed yet. Click More info → Run anyway. A signed installer is on the roadmap.
Android won't install the APK.
Because it's not from the Play Store, Android asks permission the first time: when you open the file it prompts to allow installs from this source (your browser or files app). Allow it, install, and you can toggle the permission back off afterward.
Is my driving data uploaded anywhere?
Each finished race is uploaded — the recording, the timings, the track, the car and the time — so it can be re-checked on our side — a race that passes the check shows as Confirmed. Uploaded is not public: every race starts private and reaches a leaderboard only when you publish it — race by race, or by a standing instruction you set once. See and change exactly what is public.
Do I need to be online to use GhostGauge?
To set up uploads, yes — a connection and a signed-in account; the dashboards themselves run signed out. After that, no. Drive with the Wi-Fi off if you like; the app keeps recording and uploads when it next sees us. The one thing that needs a live connection is the start of a race you want on a leaderboard — that's when the app collects the ticket that makes a time rankable.
My internet dropped mid-race. Did I lose the lap?
No. The race keeps recording, gets written to your machine and sits in a queue until you're back online. It uploads by itself, and it survives closing the app or restarting the PC.
If the race had already collected its ticket at the green light, it still counts for the leaderboard. The board marks it "Uploaded later".

Why isn't my race on the board?
Almost always one of four things: it started while you were offline (no ticket), the replay on our side didn't match your times, you haven't published it, or you haven't declared a Race Driver name yet.
The last two you can fix right now. The first can't be fixed after the fact — the ticket is issued at the green light or not at all. The house rules set out all four.

Does any of this cost money?
All features are free to registered users, including full race history, comparison, publishing validated times, and participation in clubs and leagues. Each new club and each new League requires explicit approval from krasnal. Donations are voluntary and have no effect on access or approvals. Reading public boards and pages is free.
Why do I have to pay to be on a leaderboard?
Because a leaderboard is the expensive half. Every published race is uploaded, kept, and driven again on our side from the whole recording to check the time holds up. That is storage and processing, per race, for as long as the race exists.
The dashboards cost us nothing to run — they're on your machine.

Do I need a Patreon account just to use the dashboards?
The dashboards run signed out and show your newest ten local races while retaining every recording. A free Patreon sign-in enables uploads, full website history and all account features. Supporting development is optional and never changes feature access.
How old do I have to be?
13 to drive, 18 to pay. A Patreon account (13+) signs you in; paid membership is 18+, or younger with a parent's permission.
I deleted my account. Is it really gone?
Yes. Your races leave every leaderboard, your profile stops existing, your recordings and screenshots go with them, and your Race Driver name is released for someone else to claim.
We keep no copy. Export first if you want to keep any of it.

Am I paying you for Forza content?
No. Membership pays for our servers, our validation, our leaderboards and our development. Nothing you pay for contains, unlocks or grants any right to anyone else's game content.
GhostGauge is a companion app. It reads a telemetry feed the game broadcasts on your own network when you switch Data Out on, and it draws it. It doesn't modify the game or ship any part of it.

Someone rammed me. What are you going to do about it?
Report it with the race, the lap and what happened, and a person will read it. We act on patterns: a word, a result removed, removal from a club or league, and in the worst case the account.
What we can't do is adjudicate a single incident forensically. Forza's telemetry describes one car — yours. There's no data about anyone else's car and no contact flag, so nobody can replay a collision and tell you whose fault it was. Anyone claiming otherwise is guessing. The code of conduct explains how we handle it instead.
