Sections 1–7 cover the app. Sections 8–18 cover the account service and apply from the moment you create an account. Sections 19–26 are the small print, and they apply to both.
Part one — the app on your machine
In force from the moment you install it.
1. Who you're agreeing with
GhostGauge is built and run by an independent developer — one person, not a company. In this document "we" and "us" mean that person, and "you" means you. You can reach us at connect@GhostGauge.pro, through the feedback page, or on Patreon.
2. What the app does
GhostGauge listens for the telemetry Forza Horizon 6 broadcasts over your own network when you turn Data Out on, and draws it as dashboards. It runs on your own machine, on your own network.
It does not modify the game, inject anything into it, or talk to the game's servers. It reads a stream the game itself offers, and nothing more.
3. Your licence to use it
The app is free. You may install and use it on as many of your own devices as you like, for your own personal, non-commercial use.
What you may not do: sell it, charge anyone for access to it, or publish modified builds in a way that presents them as official GhostGauge releases. The app, its source, its name and its artwork stay ours.
4. It comes as-is, with no warranty
GhostGauge is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind. It may contain defects. Times, distances and every other figure it shows are best-effort readings derived from the game's own telemetry — useful, but not certified, and not something to stake anything important on.
Current builds are not code-signed, so Windows will warn you about an unknown publisher and Android will ask before installing from outside the Play Store. That is expected. Installing anyway is your decision.
5. Not affiliated with anyone
GhostGauge is an independent project by an independent developer. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to the makers or publishers of Forza or Forza Horizon — or to any car manufacturer, circuit, team, sponsor or brand whose name, likeness or vehicle may appear in the game.
Every one of those names and marks belongs to its owner. They appear here for one reason only: to describe what this app works with. Your use of the game is governed by the game's own terms. Nothing here changes them and nothing here overrides them.
6. Use it fairly
Don't use GhostGauge to break the game's rules, and don't use it to harass anyone. How we expect people to race is set out in the code of conduct, which applies to every race organised through this site.
If a game update, a settings change, or the game's publisher makes the telemetry feed unavailable, the app may simply stop receiving data — that is outside our control and isn't something we can promise around.
7. It will change, and one day it may stop
This is a one-person project under active development. Features can change, move or be removed, and the app and this site can be discontinued. Where a change is significant, we'll say so on the site rather than let you discover it mid-race.
Part two — the account service
In force from the moment you create an account.
8. Accounts and signing in
Signing in is through Patreon. There is no GhostGauge password, so we never see one and never store one. What we keep is the account identifier Patreon hands us, your email address, and a display name.
Your Patreon name stays private. The only name anyone else sees is the Race Driver name you declare yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your sign-in to yourself.
9. How old you have to be
You must be at least 13 to hold a GhostGauge account. We don't knowingly collect anything from anyone younger; if we learn an account belongs to someone under 13 we close it and delete the data.
Membership is 18 and over, or younger with a parent or guardian's permission. We take your word on your age; we cannot check it.
10. What gets uploaded
Only finished races, and only from the app. An upload holds the recorded telemetry for that race plus its times, the car, the track and the app version that recorded it. Races you cancel or quit are never uploaded.
If your connection drops, the app keeps recording and queues the race until it can upload. The race is kept — though a race the server never saw start cannot be ranked (section 12).
11. Your times stay private until you publish them
Every uploaded race starts private. It reaches a leaderboard when you publish it — race by race, or by a standing instruction you set once — and you can unpublish it again. The privacy page covers this in detail.
12. Races are checked before they count
An uploaded race is replayed on our side and its times recomputed from the recording. A race that doesn't hold up can be marked ineligible for leaderboards. We keep the recording so races can be re-checked later as the checks get better — which can move a result in either direction.
A race can only reach a leaderboard if the app was online when it started, the recording holds up, you published it, and you have declared a Race Driver name. The house rules set that out in full.
13. Fair play and conduct
Fabricated, edited or replayed-back telemetry is the one thing that will cost you your account. A leaderboard is worth exactly as much as its honesty, and we would rather have a small honest one.
How you race is covered by the code of conduct, which forms part of these terms. In short: rubbing is racing, ramming is banned, and the standard is one we ask you to keep rather than one we can measure — the game's telemetry describes only your own car, so we cannot see contact between drivers at all.
14. Free access and voluntary donations
All GhostGauge features are free to registered users, including full race history, publishing validated times, comparison, and participation in clubs and leagues. Each new club and each new league requires krasnal's explicit approval. Donations are entirely voluntary and do not unlock features or organizer permissions.
GhostGauge is a companion app. It reads a telemetry stream the game itself broadcasts over your own network when you switch Data Out on. It does not modify the game, contain any part of it, unlock anything in it, or reproduce or redistribute any of its content — no cars, no maps, no models, no textures, no audio, no artwork, no code.
Voluntary donations support hosting and development. They do not purchase game content or rights to anyone else's protected content. The figures we derive — your lap time, your distance, the line you drove — are measurements of your own play, produced by our own code.
If you choose to support development through Patreon, manage that support through Patreon. GhostGauge takes no card details. Starting, changing or stopping a donation has no effect on your account features, races or organizer approvals.
15. Your content, and your conduct
Everything you upload or enter — races, driver names, avatars, club names, messages, feedback — remains yours, and remains your responsibility. By uploading it you confirm you have the right to, and that it breaks no law and infringes nobody's rights.
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, reproduce and display that content for the purpose of running the service — validating races, drawing leaderboards, showing your profile. Nothing more. We don't sell it and we don't licence it on.
We run prevention, and prevention is not a guarantee. Races are re-validated from the recording, eligibility is decided by a machine rule, gallery shots wait for a verdict before anyone sees them, and what comes through the feedback form is read by a person. What we do not do is pre-screen everything, and what we cannot do is establish what happened between two cars on track.
We are not responsible for what users do, say, upload or claim, on this site or in any game. Where something is reported to us we'll act on it — but our acting is a moderation decision, not a legal finding, and it isn't us taking on responsibility for anyone's conduct. We may remove or refuse any content at our discretion, and we're not obliged to keep a copy of anything we remove.
16. An honour-based service
GhostGauge is run on honour. We verify what can be verified: every uploaded race is replayed on our side and its times recomputed from the recording. We cannot verify how you behaved toward another driver, because the game gives us no data about anyone's car but your own.
The code we admire is bushido, as it's commonly understood: integrity, courage, compassion, respect, honesty, honour, loyalty. We encourage every driver here to practise something like it. A code you keep when nobody is checking is the only kind that's worth anything on a leaderboard.
17. Your data, and getting it back out
You can export your data and delete your account outright, from the account page, without asking us.
When you delete, it disappears from GhostGauge immediately — your races leave every leaderboard, your profile stops existing, and your Race Driver name is released for someone else to claim. We keep no copy, so it cannot be undone by you or by us.
What's on your machine stays on your machine — without an account the app lists only its newest ten races there, but every one of them is still kept; nothing is deleted to make room. The privacy page sets all of this out in detail.
18. Suspension, and refusing service
Access to the account service is granted at our discretion. We may decline, suspend or withdraw it — normally with a reason, but we reserve the right to act without giving one. This is a small independent service, not a utility.
Typical grounds: falsified or manipulated data, abuse of other users, attacks on the service, payment disputes, and conduct that makes this a worse place for everybody else.
If we do that to you and you think we got it wrong, tell us — connect@GhostGauge.pro, which works whether or not you can still sign in. A suspension never reaches your machine: the app keeps running exactly as it did, and every race already on your disk stays where it is. Deleting the account is different — section 17.
Part three — the small print
19. No warranty, and don't rely on the numbers
GhostGauge and this site are provided as-is and as-available, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. We don't promise the service will be up, that data won't be lost, or that any defect gets fixed.
Every figure GhostGauge shows is a best-effort measurement derived from a video game's telemetry. It isn't certified, isn't calibrated, and isn't fit for anything outside a game. Don't use it in place of instrumentation, don't make any decision with real-world consequences on the strength of it, and never look at a dashboard while operating an actual vehicle.
20. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive loss; nor for lost data, lost profits, lost time, lost opportunity or damage to goodwill; nor for loss arising from the service being unavailable, from another user's conduct or content, from anything you relied on that the app displayed, or from your use of the game itself.
Where we are liable despite the above, our total liability for all claims is capped at the greater of the amount you paid in respect of GhostGauge in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.
Some states don't allow the exclusion of implied warranties or the limitation of incidental or consequential damages. If you live in one, the exclusions above apply to you only as far as that state permits, and nothing here removes a right you hold that cannot lawfully be removed.
Any claim you bring must be filed within one year of the event it arises from, or it is waived — except where your state's law forbids shortening that period.
21. You cover us if you cause it
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer of GhostGauge against any claim, demand, loss, liability or cost — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of your use of the app or the service, anything you upload or publish, your breach of these terms or the code of conduct, or your infringement of anyone else's rights.
22. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on GhostGauge infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent with: what work you own, where the infringing material is, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised, a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and that you're authorised to act, and your signature.
We remove material properly noticed to us, and we tell the person who posted it. If you think your material was removed in error you can send a counter-notice, and we'll follow the process from there. Repeat infringers lose their accounts.
Send a notice to connect@GhostGauge.pro, marked as a copyright notice — it is read by a person. The feedback form reaches the same place if you are signed in.
23. If we end up in a dispute
Talk to us first. Before starting any formal proceeding, send us a written description of the problem and what you want, and give us 30 days to sort it out.
Then arbitration. If we can't resolve it, any dispute arising out of GhostGauge is settled by binding individual arbitration under the American Arbitration Association's Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitration happens in your home state or by video, whichever you prefer. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
Individually, not as a class. Claims are brought only in your own name. There are no class actions, no collective or representative proceedings, and no consolidation with anyone else's claim. We both give up the right to a jury trial.
Small claims stays open. Either of us can bring a qualifying claim in small claims court instead, and nothing here stops you contacting a regulator.
You can opt out. Write to us within 30 days of creating your account saying you decline arbitration, and this whole section doesn't apply to you. Nothing else about your account changes, and we won't hold it against you.
24. Governing law, and where a claim goes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Where a claim isn't subject to arbitration, it goes to the state courts of Dutchess County, New York, or the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and we both consent to those courts. This doesn't affect your right to bring a qualifying claim in small claims court.
25. The rest of the small print
- Severability. If any part of this is unenforceable, that part is cut and everything else stands.
- No waiver. Not enforcing something once doesn't mean giving it up.
- Assignment. You can't transfer your account or your rights under these terms. We can transfer ours if the project changes hands, and we'll say so if it does.
- Entire agreement. These terms, the privacy page and the code of conduct are the whole deal between us, and they replace anything said before.
- Force majeure. We're not liable for failures outside our reasonable control — including the game's publisher changing or removing the telemetry feed this app depends on.
- Export and sanctions. You may not use GhostGauge where US law forbids it, or if you're on a US restricted-parties list.
26. Changes, and getting in touch
When these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top of this page changes with them and the change is noted on the site. Carrying on using GhostGauge after that means you're accepting the new version.
